The wedding gown is usually one of the first purchases made. However, before choosing a gown, you should determine what kind of a wedding you are having: large or small, formal or informal, indoor or out. You should also determine a budget. These things will affect the type of dress that you select. The dress should complement, not conflict with, the other decisions that have been made. In other words, if the wedding will be small and intimate with only a few guests, an elaborate gown with flowing train will be out of place. Likewise, a sleeveless or off-the-shoulder gown would be inappropriate in December unless the wedding will take place in a warm climate. If an outdoor wedding is planned, a gown without a train will be a better choice, unless you have your heart set on a particular dress and are willing to accept the fact that the train will get dirty and may become permanently stained. If you will be kneeling during your wedding ceremony, you may want to avoid a sheath gown, since the skirt may be too tight... (more)

MEGHANN M. CUNIFF,The Spokesman-Review

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — She showed up at weddings uninvited, mingled with guests and never left empty-handed.

A Spokane woman's wedding-crashing scheme unraveled last summer when an old high school classmate — and off-duty police officer — recognized her at a wedding where she wasn't an invited guest.

When the hosts discovered missing gifts, they realized they'd been looted.

Now Pamula W. McBride, 46, will serve 45 days in jail for stealing gift cards and personal checks from a wedding in Nez Perce County, Idaho, last June.

Police also suspect McBride stole similar items from the gift table at Scott Drago's wedding reception at Cataldo Hall on the Gonzaga University campus July 18, nearly one month after she stole from a wedding at the Lewiston Elks Lodge.

"We had so many guests at the wedding that we didn't really notice until we went to open gifts the following day," Drago said. "You don't get very many gifts and you're wondering, 'Gee, something's wrong here.' "...

The 1st recommendation that many professionals give is to leave lots of time for planning your wedding. Most pairs do not have the one through 2 years that is typically suggested in the bridal periodicals. A last minute wedding will still be wonderful if you are prepared to mind a few simple pointers. Recommendations to Holding a Last Minute Wedding

1. Stay flexible: the best circumstances means that one will select your site and then schedule the ceremony based on that place. A quickly planned wedding mostly means that you select your date and then use the businesses and locations that shall host your event. Maintaining a little openness, staying open minded about what you will and will not accept, can go a long ways for making preparing be a little easier.

2. Remain directed: bear in mind that the wedding ceremony and the time around it are just about the life and the future that you will be sharing. Do not permit that opportunity to get confused in the pageantry and ceremonies that often encompasses a wedding....

With most contemporary weddings there is a huge entourage of individuals who are extremely important to the success of the big day. Bearing this in mind, it seems only fitting that these people should be recognized for their time and effort with specifically chosen wedding gifts all of their own.

Who Should Receive Wedding Gifts?

The obvious answer is anyone who helps out to the extent that the bride and groom feel that they deserve special wedding gifts. Typical individuals who should be considered for such wedding gifts include bridesmaids, best men, ushers and the parents of the bride and groom.

Wedding gifts are also often given to the professionals that help make the day happen, such as your hairdresser or the wedding planner, although these gifts are more token gifts and can be as simple as a nice card or a small bouquet of flowers.

With larger weddings, it is also common practice to offer a small gift to every guest in the form of a favor, placed at each place setting. Due to the large quantity...
