POCATELLO — Pete and Ronda Black recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a road trip to the Oregon and California coast highways. While in Oregon they visited longtime friends as well as taking in the sights.  

    Pete and Ronda enjoy skiing, tennis, and cycling. They like to travel. They have visited Europe on several occasions, Canada, Mexico, and most of the states. They enjoy being with family and friends.  

    Pete and Ronda met at ISU in the student union building. Ronda was using the phone near the information desk when Pete struck up a conversation with her. A date or two later, their love flourished and they were married on July 12, 1970.          Pete worked at Block’s while Ronda finished her degree at ISU. She began teaching at Pocatello High School, which gave them just enough income for Pete to go to ISU and pursue his degree in education. They have one son, Darin, who loves music and snowboarding. POCATELLO — The children and grandchildren of Gene A. and Lois Anne (Cox) Stewart are pleased to announce their 50th wedding anniversary.

    Gene and Lois Anne were married on June 25, 1960, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

    They happened to meet in the old St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello, where Gene’s dad was a patient and Lois Anne was working as a nurse’s aide.

    They now live in Pocatello after spending many years on the family farm in Arbon Valley, Idaho.

    They celebrated their anniversary on Saturday, (June 26) dining out at Red Lobster Restaurant with family members, where they were presented with a memory book consisting of memories and photos from each of the children and grandchildren, also siblings.

POCATELLO — William D. and Diana J. Olson marked their 50th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2010, with a celebration at their home hosted by their children, Bill and Sara Olson of Seattle, Wendy Olson and Craig Kreiser of Boise and Zoe Ann Olson and Eric Geyer of Boise.

    Bill and Diana were married on July 23, 1960, at the United Methodist Church in Pocatello, and honored with a reception at the Bannock Hotel, where Diana’s mother, Dorothy Ortega, worked for more than 20 years. Bill and Diana lived in Boise for the first two years of their marriage while Bill clerked for United States District Court Judge Fred M. Taylor. In 1962, they returned to Diana’s hometown of Pocatello, where they have lived ever since.

    Bill practiced law in Pocatello for more than 45 years as one of the original partners of what is now the law firm of Racine, Olson, Nye, Budge and Bailey before his retirement at the end of 2007. In October 2008, the Idaho State Bar honored Bill with its Distinguished... (more)

70th Anniversary Milestone

    CHUBBUCK — The children of Robert and Darlene Schiers will honor their parents at an open house social in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 24, 2010, from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will be held at Bob and Darlene’s home, located at 670 Redman, Chubbuck, Idaho. All friends and neighbors are invited. The couple requests no gifts.

    Bob and Darlene were married July 25, 1940, in Idaho Falls. They resided in Jackson, Wyo., where both graduated from high school. Following their marriage, they moved to Pocatello to attend Idaho State University. Bob graduated in pharmacy in 1943. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent the next 26 months managing a pharmacy in a large Army hospital in Reims, France. Darlene worked at Halliwell Drug in Pocatello while Bob attended college and served in World War II.

DOWNEY — Merl and LeOra Bloxham will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary July 18. They were married in 1948, and their vows later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 4, 1964. They have resided in Downey and Franklin, Idaho.

    Born to Richard Thomas and Elsie Henderson Bloxham in Downey, Idaho, Merl was the 11th of 12 children. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his lifetime, he has been self-employed as a carpenter and electrician, managed a farm implement business for five years, owned a Texaco service station for 12 years and then retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20-plus years and having received the Postmaster of the Year award.

    He has been activity in the community throughout his lifetime, serving as mayor, city council member, planning and zoning commissioner, volunteer fireman, and district magistrate’s commissioner. He has also served as officers in many civic clubs, including Lions Club and American Legion.

POCATELLO — Tammy Ross Bangs and Brenda Ross are pleased to announce the 50th wedding anniversary of their parents, Art and Jeri Ross.

    Art was born in Bozeman, Mont., and moved to Hagerman in 1950. He graduated in 1954, from Hagerman High School. Art served in the Navy, serving aboard ship from Japan, Hawaii and Saigon.

    Jeri was born in Wendell, Idaho, and she lived in Gooding. She graduated from Gooding High School in 1959.

    Art and Jeri met during lunch on “the cruise.” Jeri wanted to meet Art and decided to arrange a chance meeting. Jeri and a friend were walking down the street when Art and Jimmy Mcgee, a mutual friend of her and Art’s, drove down the same street. The mutual friend called out the window at the two girls. They stopped and he introduced Art and Jeri.

    They began dating and fell in love, and were married on July 10, 1960, at the Methodist Church in Gooding.

    POCATELLO — Ray and Beverly Howell, 727 E. Alameda Road, Pocatello, Idaho, were married June 24, 1950, in Pocatello.

    Ray is retired from FMC. He enjoys bowling, fishing, spending time at Mackay and spending time with family. He likes to go to Island Park occasionally.

    Beverly Jones is retired from School District 25 school lunch program.

    The couple has lived in Pocatello. Ray graduated from Pocatello High School in 1949, and Beverly graduated from Pocatello High School in 1950.

    POCATELLO — Ashley Kristin Ryan, the daughter of Michael and Kristin Ryan, and Byron Glenn Hunt, the son of Robert and Stephanie Hunt, were married on July 17 in a small backyard ceremony. A reception followed with family and friends.

    Ashley and Byron both graduated from Highland High School in 2005. They were friends throughout high school and their first date was to their senior prom!

    Ashley currently manages Tykes Time Children's Center and Byron is pursuing a nursing degree at Idaho State University while working at Fitness Inc., and UPS.          They are making their home in Pocatello.
