How I tied the knot

My wife and I had been dating for several months and we both knew we were the ones for each other. We had both agreed we were ready for the next step in our relationship, so me being a not so romantic person, I was on the search for the perfect proposal. I had tons of ideas but none of which fit our crazy relationship, and us but it finally came to me. We went ring shopping, (which really made me angry because I had no money to get her what she wanted) but I knew know what she liked. One day shortly after shopping around for rings it was snowing like crazy so I gave her a ride to work, After I dropped her off, a lady backed into my car and took off so I jumped out and chased her down, but to make it short, I got a check from her insurance company to fix my car. I new this would be the only time I could afford to get her the ring she wanted without going in tons of debt. So I shopped around and found and bought the ring that was totally her, clean and clear. Valentines was right around the...

The four white pillars that stand on Red Hill at Idaho State University have a significant meaning of education and commitment to the community. Yet, those four white pillars also hold another meaning to me personally….. they stand as a place where a friendship turned into love and the place where I said “yes” to a marriage between an ISU dancer and an ISU cheerleader, this is our story:

When my fiancé Cody and I met and first started dating, the pillars at ISU quickly became known to us as “our spot” and the place where we could go and open our hearts to one another apart from the world and above the busy world of college life and the life of his cheering and my dancing. We would go up there in the evening, watch the sunset, talk, laugh, cry on each other’s shoulders, and look at the infinite lights in the Pocatello valley for hours at a time.

On Labor Day 2008, he picked me up in the morning and I was excited for my day at the Blackfoot Fair with him. All ready to go, he insisted that we stop at Staples and...

For The Associated Press

Cameron Bradley had always dreamed of a big church wedding. She wanted a couple hundred guests and a reception at a country club with a band.
But when the economy tanked, and her fiance's salary was cut, she knew they couldn't afford that kind of wedding.
So they threw out tradition and opted for a "destination" wedding in Costa Rica.
"Cost is always an issue, and both of our jobs are experiencing some cutbacks," said Bradley, of Washington, N.C.
Destination weddings, in exotic locales, have been increasingly popular in recent years. But many couples are now discovering that they can, surprisingly, be cheaper — if you go against tradition and shop for good deals.
"For sure, destination weddings are becoming more attractive due to the declining economy," said Quentin Carmichael, marketing and sales manager for the Web site www.DestinationWeddings.com, which had an almost 10 percent increase in weddings under deposit this year compared to the same time last year. "It's more affordable...

DES PERES, Mo. (AP) — As a Mormon planning a temple wedding, Jenna Gaal knew what she needed in a wedding gown: pure white, with sleeves and a conservative neckline and hem.
She just couldn't find it.
"I tried on things that looked like nightgowns, floor-length with beads," said the 23-year-old from Kansas City, Mo., who wanted something elegant as well as modest.
Finally, she found her dress about a four-hour drive from home at Chatfields Boutique in the St. Louis suburb of Des Peres. Chatfields, which bills itself as "an unexpected wedding store" features modest, plus-size, eco-friendly, maternity and other specialty gowns.
Its owner, Debbie Welcher, notes that not all brides are seeking a size 6 strapless couture gown. While those with unconventional — or very traditional — needs may have to do a little more homework, there are places where they, too, can find the dress of their dreams.
Gaal was beaming, and her mother looked happy too, as she stood in front of a mirror at...

By Jason Hennessey Contrary to previous perception, a wedding can be done on any month, any season. Some thought that winter would be too chilling for a wedding while others thought summer would get everyone sweaty and uncomfortable. With good planning, no month or part of the year can be an off-limit to a wedding ceremony. Once aspect that can have a significant impact on how adaptable your guests will be with the weather is the kind of drinks you are going to serve. Whether a summer wedding or a winter reception, you can make your wedding ceremony the hottest festivity ever by just choosing the right drinks for the occasion. In addition, they don’t have to be alcoholic. For an outdoor summer wedding reception, serving cool and refreshing drinks as the celebration continues will keep everyone focused on the thrill of the festivity. If your wedding is religious driven, you can choose a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks that can suite various weather conditions and keep your guests refreshed and lively...

Your wedding flowers will represent a significant portion of your wedding budget. However, when it comes to your wedding bouquet, there is a lot to consider. Many brides will develop an emotional attachment to their bouquet with many choosing to have their preserved after the wedding is over. The style and shape of your bouquet also needs to coordinate with your wedding outfit. A good florist will be able to advise you on the best bouquet to suit your look, but you should also be aware of the shapes and styles that are available.

A hand tied bouquet is the most popular choice these days. These are round in shape with the stalks being hidden under the flowers. Generally they will suit most styles of wedding dress and this shape is also popular for bridesmaid’s bouquets.

Shower bouquets are generally more expensive than hand tied versions because they require individual flowers to be wired to create the cascade effect. These are good for dramatic dress styles as they are quite large.

Tear drop bouquets are smaller...

I dated my future wife for years...We were high school sweethearts. I was offered a football scholarship to play in Missouri after high school. Well I was madly in love with her and I could't stand to be away from her. I came back a few weeks later. I was gone from her for 3 weeks and knew I couldnt live without her. During my 23 hour drive I knew I needed to ask this women to marry me. I went up to the top of a local mountain and searched for the most perfect Aspen tree. After I found this tree, I carved in the tree " Amber will you marry me?" I waited a couple days and we went for a hike. We stopped at the spot and I pretended to mess with my pack. She saw the tree and stood there stunned. I dont think she realized it was "her" name. Then I went on one knee and asked her to marry me. She carved yes underneath the tree. Every year on our anniversary we go to "our tree" and carve a tally notch in the tree
