I dated my future wife for years...We were high school sweethearts. I was offered a football scholarship to play in Missouri after high school. Well I was madly in love with her and I could't stand to be away from her. I came back a few weeks later. I was gone from her for 3 weeks and knew I couldnt live without her. During my 23 hour drive I knew I needed to ask this women to marry me. I went up to the top of a local mountain and searched for the most perfect Aspen tree. After I found this tree, I carved in the tree " Amber will you marry me?" I waited a couple days and we went for a hike. We stopped at the spot and I pretended to mess with my pack. She saw the tree and stood there stunned. I dont think she realized it was "her" name. Then I went on one knee and asked her to marry me. She carved yes underneath the tree. Every year on our anniversary we go to "our tree" and carve a tally notch in the tree

Russell and I met at Walmart July 2005. We didnt hit it off at first but after a year we started going out. Well one thing led to another and we moved in together October 2007. Last Christmas Eve we were getting ready to go to my mom and dads for my dad's 50th birthday. On our way Russ hands me a blindfold and say's "here put this on." So I did and 10 minutes later we arrived at our destination. I had no idea where we were...it was snowing like crazy and he was leading me through the snow and ice blindfolded. We ended up in this building and he led me up a flight of stairs to this room. We enter the room and there is Christmas music playing...Im like ok are we taking dancing lessons...I had no idea what was about to happen or where we were. He stands me in place and says "just a sec I have to see about something" So im standing there and he's making a bunch of noise off to the side. So he finally comes over and says "Ok you can take off your blindfold" and when I did he was on one knee with a ring and...

John and I had been dating a little over a year when we decided to join his family for a 2008 Christmas vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The beaches were beautiful and the warm breezes really set the mood for sweethearts. A few months before leaving on vacation, John had mentioned a surprise he had for me but no matter how hard I pleaded or begged he wouldn't reveal the slightest hints. I knew I was just going to have to wait. Finally Christmas day arrived and as we were searching through our stockings, I still found no surprises from John. I was beginning to wonder if there was going to be a surprise at all. As the evening rolled around we all decided to go into the city and shop for family members who weren't with us. John and I split apart from the group and went walking and shopping. Around sunset we had made our way to the beach. We were talking about the year we had spent together and how much we truly loved each other, when John stopped me for a "huge" hug. He told me he had something for me and I said,...

So many brides spend literally thousands of dollars on perfect wedding gowns, that it can seem a real shame just to discard their precious wedding gowns, after the day is done. But, let's face it, when else would you actually have the opportunity to wear a wedding dress? So, unfortunately, most wedding gowns simply end up in storage; there must be a better way.

Wedding Gowns Through the Generations

Fashion does come and go, and wedding gowns are no exceptions. You may find that within a couple of decades old wedding gowns come back into fashion and are often of considerable sentimental value. So store your gown wisely and you may get to see your daughter or grand-daughter enjoying the same dress, in years to come.

If you have opted for one of the simple wedding gowns that are classical and dateless, the chances of your gown being worn by future generations, is even greater. Don't be embarrassed to mention your stored wedding gown to the younger members of your family; they may be delighted to save some money... (more)

When a couple gets married, it is common practice to include elements that represent the season in the decorations and thematic elements of the wedding venue. Winter weddings can be among the most beautifully decorated ones. Snowflakes, ice, and Christmas elements can easily be combined to decorate for a winter wedding. These same elements can be used when choosing winter wedding favors. They contribute to the beauty of the venue and enhance the occasion. Coffee and tea favors are also very popular items to give as winter wedding favors.

Winter wedding favors are often very elegant and beautiful items. Winter themes can include snowflakes, ice and icicles, and Christmas elements. Winter wedding favors have been created that fit in with any or all of these themes. If, however, a touch of warmth is desired in a winter wedding setting, coffee and tea favors are much preferred. These items are easily personalized on the packaging and can come in a wide array of flavors that fit the personalities of the couple giving...

wedding dress here have hundreds pictures of beautiful dresses including weddings, prom and other special occasions.">Often an occasion like wedding requires everything to be purchased on a high-scale. A significant amount of expenditure is incurred on bridal items like bridal accessories, jewellery, and of course, the wedding dress. However, it is not necessary that to look beautiful as a bride one always has to purchase a pricey designer gown. A modest wedding dress can sometimes look equally elegant and charming for the occasion. Nowadays, there are innumerable choices available in the market as far as modest wedding dresses are concerned. In fact, it is interesting to know that according to the Bible, true a Christian woman should wear a modest dressing gown for her wedding. This is because of a Biblical belief that a woman who does so reveals her true spiritual being without any ostentation.

Also, a woman who wears a modest wedding gown avoids drawing any negative or undue interest from any corner on her...

The story of our relationship is quite unique and began while our parents were all in high school together. Our parents were friend during their school years and remain that way today. I had known of Tom my whole life, thought I didn't really get to know him until several years later. HE first asked me out ona date while I was working at Drag City Raceway and finally after having to reschedule our date three different times, we went on our very first date in June of 2006. After which I knew he was going to be my husband. On December 13, 2006, Tom and I had planned to take a weekend trip to Salt Lake to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square and just hang out. We had been dating for 9 months at the time and I was getting a little upset he hadn't asked me to marry him yet. He picked me up at work when I got off and we left for Salt Lake. Being winter, it was dark by the time we got there, the lights were lit up, it was snowing and it was cold. I didn't mind much because I was with the man I loved. We walked...

I started off my Saturday Feb. 16, 2008 like any other, trying to get that extra little bit of sleep that I never get on weekdays. But at 8 am I awoke to an annoying man jumping onto my bed and who wouldn't let me get my beauty sleep. Louis was entirely too hyper all morning (for reasons unknown at the time) and he couldn't even finish the breakfast I had made. Strange, I thought, but when ISN'T he?
After a weird awakening, we were off to a day of skiing at Pebble with my wonderful parents and brothers. With a crisp fog and a chill in the air, I couldn't wait to hit the slopes. As usual, my snowboarding brother and boyfriend were going to start off the day together (or so I thought) hitting the jumps that only boarders enjoy. I had plans to hang out with my mom and dad, so I waited for my parents and sent the boys off to the lift.
On our way up the mountain into the fog some funny things happened. The lift stalled 4 different times; strange, I thought, but not completely out of the ordinary. My...

My husband, Thomas and I met in high school just a few months before his junior prom. We started as friends, but he had a different idea in mind. On my 16th birthday, just a few weeks before the big dance, he filled my room with balloons and asked the first of many questions. I said yes and we were officially "going out" and going to prom. That morning he picked me up and we headed to Blackfoot's airport. One of his friends' father had a small airplane and took all of us in the group for a flight around town. That night we went to dinner, went to the dance, and took many pictures. The summer soon followed and school was out. We remained friends, although not a couple. About a year later we realized that we couldn't live without each other. After dating for six months, Thomas went to Hungary for a couple years and I started college. When he returned we were again inseparable.
One evening we went to Wingers for dinner and on the way back to his house (or so I thought) we stopped at Blackfoot's airport. He got out...

Tyler and I started dating Thanksgiving of 08. From the first time we "hung out" I couldn't help but love him. My heart opened up to him like it never had to anyone else ... best part was, I didn't mind. We spent the whole Christmas Season together falling deeper and deeper in love each day. We had thrown marriage around a bit but we were both apprehensive of moving too fast.
When the winter semester started I had to come back to BYU-I, Tyler was enrolled in ISU so he stayed in Pocatello. We hated the thought of being apart but more than that, were scared of the results of a long distance relationship. On January 14th, I was really missing Tyler so I asked him if he would come have dinner with me, mostly joking, knowing it was an unreasonable request. He told me he had to take care of some church responsibilities. I told him that was okay because I had homework and would just be stuck at home all night.
Later that night, I was doing laundry (not exactly looking my personal best). I was walking from the laundry...

My husband Jason and I met in January of 2007 at an ice skating activity. I was on a blind date with someone else! My "real date" ditched me and Jason rescued me from spending the evening skating alone. We hit it off, and he proposed on Easter Sunday, April of 2007.

That evening, we had just had dinner with his grandparents and we were sitting in the living room talking together when he excused himself to go down to the basement. On the previous Valentine's day, we had slowdanced in the basement for over an hour when he told me he loved me for the first time, so their basement held a sort of special meaning to us. He'd been gone for a while, so I went looking for him. He was on his way back up the stairs and he quickly stopped me and told me that he'd set up a special easter egg hunt for me.

He showed me where the first egg was, and when I opened it, there was a piece of paper inside that said, "Happy Easter! I have made a little egg hunt for you, with each egg telling you something that I love about you. We will...

For The Associated Press

Adrian Enrique was nervous when he popped the question to Leah Smeenk.
And he had been even more nervous when he sought permission from her mom and dad first.
"I wanted to make sure I did it right," said Enrique, 25, of Orlando, Fla. "It's a ritual. It shows respect. You just start out on the right foot with the parents."
Although seeking permission from a woman's father is no longer a societal must, many prospective grooms still do it as a way to gain the trust, respect or friendship of their future fathers-in-law. Some include mothers in the conversation.
In fact, 73 percent of the men who participated in a 2007 survey by Men's Health magazine and TheKnot.com, a wedding Web site, said a guy should seek dad's permission before giving his daughter a ring. Sixty-eight percent of the women who responded said that asking their dad was not necessary, but was OK, according to the survey of more than 10,000 men and women.
Men like the tradition because it gives them a place...
